The other day my son came home from school and announced that he wanted to learn how to play an electric guitar. It caught me a little off guard but I thought it was a wonderful idea. We sat down to talk about it and he surprised me by letting me know that he has done extensive research on what type of guitar is best for him to learn on. He pulled out his laptop and went to the Guitar Junky website. I must say that I was surprised and did not know that there were so many different types of guitars available. My son thought it was kind of funny that he was teaching me something.
He pulled up a buying guide and reviews on electric guitars for beginners. This was the most logical place to start. Of course, I had little to no idea about any of the details but trusted the research that my son had done. The one he had his eye on was an Epiphone Les Paul Standard. It has a classic mahogany body with a maple veneer top. It is built with quality, sounds great and is very comfortable to play. My son could hardly contain his excitement when he was showing all of this to me.
Before we finished looking at it I quietly decided to myself that I was going to buy this for him for his birthday which was next month. I told him that I would have to think about it and discuss it with his father. He tried really hard to hide his disappointment but I just played it off like I did not notice it. Afterward, I talked to his father about it and he was in complete agreement with me about buying it for his birthday. I can’t wait to see the look on his face when he opens it.
